Summer knitwear!
I am sure that none of you is ready to read an article about knitwear. The sun is still very hot and summer is still here, even though we do not want to admit that soon it will be over. Just the the word “knitwear” gives us sweat and itch. Today we will not talk about this kind of knitwear but only for summer knitwear with thin strands. Most common are the knitted vests and tops, long or short ones that leave the belly uncovered (a style “so hot right now” that we talked about last week), mini dresses and also boho, midi dresses and even bags that you can carry with you this time of year. Lets have a better look…
For starters, I should let you know that this style is very close to the bohemian look. Thin knitwear always refers to boho style, either pure boho or more urban, also known as boho chic. If you choose a vest, wear it with an ethereal top inside, baggy jeans and lots of metal and wooden bracelets. You can even wear it with a mini dress or even with a plain t-shirt and a maxi skirt with flat sandals or wooden heeled sandals.

Knitted tops can be easily combined with jean shorts and biker boots- a more “concert” style, but always irresistable. Choose short knitted tops and wear them with high waisted floral shorts, boots and a hat, just like Jamie Chung does in the picture below. A style that reminds us of the past but also gives us a sweet new-retro look. You can also wear your short knitted tops with maxi skirts.

When it comes to dresses you can choose among two types: either mini or midi ones (of course there is always the maxi dress, but prefer to wear it on a night out and not during the day, because that is a total evening look). Mini dresses have usually an empire style, they remind us of ancient Greece and can be combined with also ancient greek type of sandals, also known as “gladiator sandals”. Salvatore Ferragamo presented knitted midi dresses on his catwalk this year and I have to say that I liked them very much as they were combined with silk scarves on the head and thin leather belts high on waist. If you have jod related problems when it comes to dress code, see the pictures from Salvatore Ferragamo collection and copy this look.

When it comes to accessories, say yes to thin knitted bags, either they are made of fabric or even straw. The only thing you have to know is that the best knitted bags are the ones with bone handles. They are so chic!

This days we try to save as much money as we can, so if you have no time to go to the stores or if you find this boring, go through your mother’s or, even better, your grandmother’s wardrobe and you will definitely find something usefull there!
Last tip
Do not be afraid to put your money on this boho style and keep some boho pieces in your wardrobe, because this style is very 70s and what I can tell you right now for sure is that this winter is going to be a tribute to this decade and many of these pieces that you have, are going to be usefull for a long time!
