Recycle your wardrobe
It is a period of economical crisis and everyone is talking about it, but because we talk about style this situation is a good chance for us to rethink what we already have in our wardrobe and prove that money has nothing to do with style. Anyway, Coco Chanel has said it already: «There are people who have money and people who are rich». And we want to be the ones from the second kind of people.
So, this week we will talk about how to ‘recycle’ your wardrobe, how to see your clothes apart from the obvious. There are some pieces that all of us already possess, either from this season or last that still is in fashion. These couldn’t be anything else but our jeans, the little black dress, plaid and jean shirts, woolen cardigans and jackets… but let’s see them analytically:
JEANS
For those who don’t have a dress code at work can enjoy the jeans there as well. Wear your skinny jeans with a simple top, heels and a jacket. You can keep the outfit during the day and night by just adding some jewels to give a glow and maybe replace the heels with a pair of patent leather ones or your rock style boots. Simple, easy and economical.
LITTLE BLACK DRESS
We‘ve talked about the little black dress in the past, like many have done. It’s the safer choice and almost all of us have one. You can wear it in the morning with nude tights and black heels or ballet flats or even with black flat boots, and then add some color with a scarf or some jewels. Same here, as with the jeans, you can wear all day, but for your night out match it with black opaque tights, high heels and some pearls. For the younger of you try it with your biker boots or ankle boots or with high heels of any color – pop, flashy or even print.
PLAID AND JEAN SHIRT
Plaid and jean shirts are in fashion from last season already and therefore many of you have at least one. The shirts can be wore in the morning matched with jeans, dark-colored, skinny, or high-waist – for chic office-look – or even with boyfriend’s jeans. And can be wore at a night out as well. This year, you can wear the jean shirt also with a high-waist sequin skirt – like Vivienne Westwood showed us – or just with a simple black pencil skirt.
The plaid one on the other hand, you can wear it with your skinny or high-waist jeans or with cotton trousers. You can also match it with your mini dress wearing it as a jacket, even if the dress is silk. It is a bit extreme, but it has style and it is rock. Don’t forget you can match it with your skinny jeans as well.
T-SHIRTS
T-Shirts is another main piece of our wardrobe. We all have a white, black, grey, or stamped one. It’s easy to match and economical to buy. Wear them with over your jeans or cotton trousers and for a night look match them with pencil skirts or jeans with high heels or vinyl tights or even with a very good-expensive skirt. There are totally different pieces matched but they do make a unique personal style.
WOOLEN CARDIGANS
Cardigans match with many things and keep us warm on the same time. This year though are considered in fashion more than any other time. Don’t just wear them with jeans or skirts for a casual outfit. See them from another point of view and wear them with mini dresses without tights if you can handle the cold or with nude or opaque tights and then finish up the look with a belt high up in your waist to curve your silhouette.
JACKETS
I think we all own a black, classic jacket. Many of us even have a boyfriends blazer from last year. The magical thing with this piece is that we are talking about the most passe partout option in our wardrobe. You can wear it in the morning matched with t-shirt, shirts, skinny jeans, trousers or skirts but you can also wear it for your night-outfit matched with a lace dress, or a sequin skirt or even with haute couture. Regarding the longer version of boyfriend’s blazers, they go nicely with mini dresses to show almost nude under it. Try it immediately, you will love it!
