The highest Marks: The winner of the Scottish Fashion Graduate of the Year at the 2010 Scottish Fashion Awards, Jett Swenny attracted the attention of the world-wide chain of Marks and Spencer that decided to sell her dress, starting from the flagship shops in Glascow, London and online at the price of £95. “To have one of my own creations in a Marks & Spencer store and even worn by the public is every designer’s dream.”Sweeny said. Undoubtly, this is a great start for a new designer!
Battle for Fashion: Sylvester Stallone is creating a menswear fashion line that will include casual clothes mainly and will be out in 2012 inspired by his roles in Rambo and Rocky. Having as a main target group men aged between 25-40 years old, this is the first designing effort of Stallone who is willing to be even more productive in the future. “I’ve lived a life where I know what has worked and what hasn’t worked. Clothing is the first step to building a character. I hope that what worked for me will work for others. I really believe I have an understanding of the male psyche on all levels. I want to expose people to things that will work and this is the apropos time. I’m not experienced in this field, but we have the proper team to move this vision along.”, he claims.
HARPERS BAZAAR
Fendi’s Fatto a Mano: If you are passing by Harrods, it is sure that its window will attract your attention! Fendi is collaborating with Rowan Mersh, a British textile based sculptor and RCA graduate who, along with the brand’s team, will set up an interactive presentation of art. The craftsman will be hooked up to a heart monitor which will be connected to a specially adapted sewing machine which will punch out a stitch on a strip of leather every time his hearts takes a beat. The craftsman was at his position for the past two weekends but the whole installation will be at Harrods for two weeks!
ELLE
January in spring: Versace draws inspiration from January Jones, Mad Men’s star, as to launch his new line of sunglasses under the name January J collection. It consists of two sunglass styles and one pair of optical glasses frames, all ornamented with Versace’s Medusa-head logo. The picture above gives you a…mad taste!
Eva Mendes as an Angel: Eva Mendes will replace Naomi Watts at the campaign of Thierry Mugler’s Angel fragrance that will be out this September. It seems like the brand wants to emphasize on a sexier aura like the one Mendes has rather than the calmness of genuine beauty that Watts explodes. The first face of Angel was Estelle Lefébure.

Gisele is banned on the Middle East: H&M’s new campaign photos with the supermodel Gisele Bunchen are all around-but not in the middle east as the Swedish retail brand has been forced to digitally remake the relevant pictures destined for the Middle East market by adding extra fabric, and in some case extra garments, to the ‘revealing’ spring looks. The spy was a reader of Dubai-based fashion and beauty website lamodadubai.com who had already seen the genuine Gisele images, shot by top fashion photographer Daniel Jackson, circulating the web and forced the brand to change its original policy and make special illustrations for the middle-east market.
