OAT Shoes: Shoes that you can plant in!
They’re creating something new and friendly to our environment, gaining attention worldwide and winning second prize at the Green Fashion Awards during the Amsterdam International Fashion week!
OAT Shoes is a brand-new initiative in shoe design combining attractive style and biodegradable materials to produce sneakers that not only look good, but leave no mark on the environment when you throw them out. Bury them in the garden, woods or compost, water regularly and flowers will bloom from your old kicks!

The line consists of footwear that is absolutely biodegradable. The idea is that after you’ve worn them for a long time, you can either chuck them in the garbage or plant them and watch them bloom!

OAT Shoes won the second prize at the Green Fashion competition. Modeled by semi-naked “Adam and Eve” the eco-friendly company portrayed the idea of returning back to mother nature.
The Team
Christiaan Maats from Holland, studied industrial design and started traveling the world. He ended up in Australia, finished shoe design and decided to return to Amsterdam and work from there.
Dirk-Jan Oudshoorn, also from Holland, worked with Lab14 and Uran Utangs in Indonesia, before joining the OAT team.
