DIY tutorial: Upholstered Headboards

I hope you’re here again this year and I also hope 2010 to bring you all the wisdom to make the right choices and all the good actions you think so you’ll be able to feel nice and full inside your soul. I am a bit of a choice less person and I can truly understand what does it means.
So I chose to give you bedroom’s headboards today. Not that I missed them but I am quite tired of living rooms and dinning rooms after all this festive situation and frankly I started to feel a little sleepy too. Too much of staying up until dawn. We have to have some rest! I also chose this post because my own bedroom is undone –the choice less I’ve mentioned above – and the only solution for my budget is something that requires only a few things. That’s why I gathered all the upholster ideas for headboards.
- Chipboard at your demand of dimensions
- The fluffy thing for the inside, better to be around 2” thick
- Fabrics that you like
- The stumble machine that a professional would use to do the upholster job done
The first and more beautiful idea is putting together and stitch pieces of fabric together to cover up your bed’s width. After you stumble them on the chipboard you have to put the nails too. It’s a little tricky but it gives good result. Extra advice from Rdekko is that you can also put some needlework among the fabrics. mmm! The height has to be around 23.6″.

This is something that doesn’t requires too much of work. A simple piece of wood, some textile glue to fit the fabric and then a wood rail or a vintage frame maybe, to finish the job. Simply perfect and cheap!

Right here is a solution also suitable for kid’s room. I believe a young lady would feel very lucky to have this headboard. Two pieces of wood -better one half width of the other- and two fabrics. Different patterns is the interesting point of this DIY. Checkered and floral will make the room shabby chic paradise. For boys you can prefer something with a toy and a stripped one.

To be honest I don’t like this one. Neither the colours neither the rest of the room. I decided to show it because of the way that the horizontal stripes are created by the wood pieces.

Classic and warm colours for this bedroom. Plain squares of brown fabric upholstered on wood and the best is to 4×4 pieces so that it will nearly reach the ceiling. It will be very dramatic effect.

Of course the last one is never the least. The simple square piece of wood with the fabric on is a special choice. The cushions and the bedspread could be the match. Very chic view you’ll have when you finish this one.
