Dora Bakoyannis “Votes” for Ermou

Just a few hours before the Greek national elections, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and candidate member of Parliament in the Athens A’ electoral district, Mrs Dora Bakoyannis, took a brief “break” as a politician and spoke to ermoumag.com, about her shopping habits, her favourite clothes and accessories but also about the… gadgets she uses.

- Do you have a personal stylist who chooses your clothes?

No, I don’t have a personal stylist. I choose my clothes myself, but quite often I also ask my daughter for her opinion.

- Do you have any favourite fashion designers?

I don’t wear clothes from specific designers. I choose based on what I like and what suits me best. Lately, I like Theory; a label that came to Greece recently and combines casual look with good quality.

- Is there any specific area where you enjoy shopping and why?

Today, in downtown Athens, one can find everything.

- Do you believe that Ermou Street can be compared to other big commercial streets abroad?

Ermou is an excellent pedestrian street, where one can shop and at the same time enjoy their walk. I think that it deserves the title it holds as one of the most commercial roads of the world.

- You travel abroad very often. Do you remember having seen something that impressed you?

During a trip I did recently to New York, I was impressed by the long queue outside Apple’s store. It was the first day of MacBook Air sale and people were waiting at the line for more than three hours, as I was told. I have to admit that, the next day, when I found some free time and the people were less, I could not resist and I visited the store.

- Is there any specific website that you visit to read about fashion news and new trends?

I enjoy surfing the Internet and, nowadays, I find it necessary and easy to do thanks to my iphone. Ermoumag.com is among the up-to-date and useful sites I visit. I also read style.com and other sites that I have bookmarked in order to be informed on fashion trends and good shopping.

- Do you have a favourite item in you closet, that you could call as “fetish”?

I would not call it a fetish, but I do have some favourite clothes and jewellery in my closet. Among my most favourite clothes is a red jacket that cheers my up when I wear it. As far as it concerns my jewellery, jade, the Chinese green stone, is one of my favourite necklaces.
