Back to the 80s
This year, fashion designers did a flashback to the most controversial decade of the 20th century influenced by the legendary figures of the era, such as the eccentric customers of “studio54”. First, we should point out that flashbacks are never 100% faithful to the original style. There are always some elements that inspire designers, who adjust them to contemporary style. This year, fashion designers used shoulder pads, fluo colours, mini straight dresses, sequins, metal elements, and heavy make up together with fuzzy hairstyles.

We have always considered shoulder pads to be a great faux pas! But, this year, you should change your mind because there are ways to be both chic in the morning (just add shoulder pads to your suits and wear a belt on the top of your suit) and in the evening, by wearing tight dresses, coats or leather jackets with shoulder pads (Ferre, Jacobs).

Fluo colours (fuchsia, yellow, turquoise, lime) are risky. The only tip we can give you is to choose them for your eveningwear and in small quantities, for example, in accessories, jewelry, gloves, handbags (Marc Jacobs, Emanuel Ungaro, Versace, Hussein Chalayan).

This year, straight tight dresses are a hit and, obviously, “bad girls” will love them since they are simple stretch dresses, even with fluo colours, dresses with sequins or with very big shoulder pads. You can even wear it underneath you favourite biker jacket – a tribute to Michael Jackson (Balmain, Gucci, Ferre).

For “good girls” there is also a different eveningwear version: crinkle-pleated dresses, made from silk satin (Balenciaga). Draped trousers are also in fashion and are perfect for ladies with wide hips (Balmain, Louis Vuitton). You will achieve the best outcome if you choose a total black look.
Dos & Don’ts
Dos: Try any of the above versions you believe it suits you best. It is better to emphasize a specific element, especially if it looks nice on your body type.
Don’t: 80s fashion is “too much”, so don’t overdo it and follow the trend wisely.
