After 12 years of presence at New York Fashion Week, Custo Barcelona presented its Spring/Summer 2010 collection, for the first time, in the biggest area of the event; in The Tent at Bryant Park. One thousand people attended the fashion show; among them were journalists, celebrities and VIPs. Under the name “Air Show”, designer Custo Dalmau presented a concept of movement and lightness, using very light textures and fabrics. The result of this “experiment” is the new collection of Custo Barcelona, called Lowxury. It is comprised of pieces inspired by bold ideas, so that all women, all over the world, can wear them in their every day lives. Many celebrities attended Custo Barcelona’s catwalk; among them were Miss Universe, Stefania Fernandez, Tinsley Mortimer, Federico Castellucci, actor at the The Sopranos, and many others.
As Phaedra, who attended the show for ermoumag, said:
The show for Custo Barcelona at the Mercedes-Benz fashion week in New York City took place on Sunday, September 13, 2009. The show was exciting with beautiful delicate, bold colored and sparkly dresses. The show consisted of many long dresses with delicate fabrics, what some have described as bohemian. As well as, many mini skirt dresses that looked like a blast to wear. All had lush bright colors and had magnificent texture with sparkles and textures were worked into the pieces. The swimwear were a particular treat because of the great tribal aspects including many feather like accents. The men’s suits almost all included funky graphics, one in particular had a red lipstick theme with all different images of women’s red lips and red lipsticks. Another suit included blue and silver plait sequence, which actually managed to look more conservative than funky.
