Can Every Fashionista’s Dream Come True?

'Best of' news | Marylou Tzempelikou | 9/07/2009 at 09:19

ermou_closet_infinite1An optimistic project was recently announced in Singapore hoping to expand in other countries. It is called Closet Infinite and, as the website says “it is a social revolution altering your purchasing habits.”

The idea is simple and is based on many people’s need to wear designer clothes, no more than once, but without spending a lot to buy them. So, the idea is based on a combination of needs…

Closet Infinite gives a really cheap solution calling all girls who have designer’s clothes at excellent condition to donate them to Closet Infinite in order to gain a 6-month-membership. And what can they do with this membership? They can borrow free of charge any piece of cloth they want from Closet Infinite’s “library”, which will be equipped thanks to its members donations.

The only thing they have to do is to pay a handling fee of SGD 6.50 (about 3.20 euros) for each item and a deposit of SGD 30 (about 15 euros), that they get back when the clothes are returned. The item can be kept for 5 days, while there is a charge for each day the clothes are overdue.

It’s a clever idea and – theoretically – applicable. The only things that remains it to see when and how it will work, since – so far – those behind the idea do not seem to have an important benefit from the service.
However, if you are interested in receiving their updates, you can register to the mailing list or follow Closet Infinite on twitter.
